HEALTHY BALANCE

Balance can be difficult. Balancing our relationships, our jobs, our health, our hobbies. Constantly catching, tossing, and watching all that we juggle. Searching for the perfect equilibrium that gives us a sense of control. It can be tough to balance, but oh-so worth it.

I’ve been working hard lately at improving all areas of my life: personal finance, marriage, friendships, family, spirituality, nutrition, and fitness. It might be possible to classify all of these as “health.” Because really, how healthy are you if any one of these is out of whack? This does not mean that I have found perfect harmony between these areas of life. Rather, I am doing my best each day to improve upon as many of them as I can and consciously make choices that better my life in these areas.

PERSONAL FINANCE – three words: pay off debt. My world of personal finance feels – most days – like it revolves around paying off debt. Laser beam focus. Destroy debt.

MARRIAGE – loving my spouse with his love language. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you can read about it here.

FRIENDSHIPS – reaching out to old friends and making plans to meet up. Why wonder what happened to a good friendship, do something about it! It takes a total of 2 minutes to craft and send a message. It could add happiness to your life you didn’t know you needed.

FAMILY – making time for siblings and parents and blocking off weekends to spend with those that live far away. You really do create a closer bond when you spend more than a holiday afternoon with your family. In those spontaneous moments spent lounging around the house together you can learn more about them than you ever thought imaginable.

SPIRITUALITY – focusing on bringing spirituality into daily activities. Not just church on Sunday. Learning to love others and spread positivity, happiness, and forgiveness rather than negativity and a bad attitude. Everyone in this world needs love and hope. We should each do our best to spread what we have and teach what we can. Trying our absolute best to be a better version of ourselves.

NUTRITION & FITNESS – eat healthier foods, exercise more. Sound familiar? I think everyone struggles with this to some extent. I recently started a new program with Beachbody (and signed up to be a coach!) and have found through losing weight and getting fit, balancing other areas of life becomes easier. When you feel good about your body, you spread that positivity and progress into other areas of life. It is important to continually work on all of these areas. It is a balancing act. Our health is important. It impacts our finances, our relationships, and our well-being. As the old saying goes, “Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.”
